Labor shortage has always been an issue in the restaurant industry. In 2017, the National Restaurant Association reported that nearly 40 percent of businesses believed that labor recruitment was the biggest challenge in the industry. Turnover is so frequent that some estimates suggest the average restaurant’s back-of-house staff cycles every three months.
